Only 37,000 of 7 Lakh clear teacher eligibility test

Himachal Pradesh TET Examination / HPTET News : - http://hptet.blogspot.com/

Only one out of every eighteen aspirants who appeared for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2014 cleared the exam

http://naukri-recruitment-result.blogspot.com/

Roy said that the reason for the bad results is the reluctance by teachers to update their knowledge. “Teachers maybe good in delivery but they lack content knowledge. As the syllabus is advancing, teachers too need to constantly be updated on their subject,” she added.

Roy Mam Ka Kehna Hai - Ki Teacher Apne Gyan ko Update / Bada Nahin Rahe, Gyan Ka Abhaav Hai.
Teachers ko Lagatar Current Syllabus Va Gyan Ko Update Karna Chahiye.

-----

Only one out of every eighteen aspirants who appeared for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2014 cleared the exam, raising questions over the quality of training given to teachers in the country.

Out of 6.6 lakh candidates appearing for the exam from across the country on September 21, only 37,472 cleared it. While 5.6% of aspirants cleared both papers in the CTET, only 11.9% cleared paper –I; 2.8% cleared paper-II. The papers tests teachers’ knowledge in the languages and the subjects they will be teaching.
The results in this test was just a tad better than the last exam conducted in January when only 2% students passed the exam. The CTET exam, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE),  is mandatory for teachers who teach classes 1 to 8.
The dismal performance of teachers has raised concern among experts. “It is shocking to see that a majority of teachers passing from teacher training institutes cannot clear a basic eligibility test that tests their knowledge,” said Basanti Roy, former divisional secretary of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
Roy said that the reason for the bad results is the reluctance by teachers to update their knowledge. “Teachers maybe good in delivery but they lack content knowledge. As the syllabus is advancing, teachers too need to constantly be updated on their subject,” she added.
On the other hand, principals of CBSE schools said that teachers who do not teach languages failed in language papers, especially Hindi. All candidates have to mandatorily appear for Hindi and English papers and the minimum passing marks is 60%.
If science teachers are made to answer language tests, obviously they will not perform well,” said Raj Alonee, principal of Ram Sheth Thakur Public School, Kharghar. “Those who have not studied Hindi after school or college find the test very difficult. Teachers from Mumbai are particularly facing this problem.”
Some principals also blamed those candidates who gave the test after a long break from their studies for the poor results. “Candidates who have cleared BEd or MEd five or six years back and giving the test now, have lost touch with their subjects and are unable to clear this theoretical exam,” said Avnita Bir, principal of RN Podar School, Santacruz.

CTET Answer Key

TET is mandatory to become RTE Teacher - Smriti Irani

बगैर टी ई टी किये नहीं बन सकते  RTE शिक्षक  - केंद्रीय मानव संसाधन मंत्री स्मृति ईरानी
TET is mandatory to become RTE Teacher - Smriti Irani

Teachers who are appointed have to possess requisite qualification prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)

Over 600,000 primary teachers' posts lying vacant

Over 600,000 posts of teachers at primary level are lying vacant under the state sector and the national literacy mission, parliament was informed on Monday.

"The total teachers post lying vacant at the primary level both under the state sector and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan are 6, 06, 191," human resource development Minister Smriti Irani told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

"The states recruits teachers based on their recruitment rules. However, teachers who are appointed have to possess requisite qualification prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and pass the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)," she added.
Irani said that the recruitment of teachers on contract basis therefore does not affect the quality of teaching adversely as all teachers recruited have to meet the educational qualification as well as professional qualifications.

"However, professional qualifications are sometimes relaxed under section 23 of the right of children to free and compulsory education (RTE) Act, 2009 for states where there is a shortage of professionally qualified teachers, with the provision that they acquire the same through a two year training programme in distance mode," she said.

Irani also informed that the pupil teacher ratio (PTR) has improved nationally to 1:25 and most states barring Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh have normative PTRs.

The PIL, filed by the National Coalition for Education — a network of organisations fighting for the RTE — said at least 1.5 lakh schools and 12 lakh trained teachers were required to fulfill the goals envisaged under the RTE.

It sought a direction that "the states and UTs upgrade all deficient schools with appropriate physical infrastructure so as to be in compliance with the RTE Act within six months.

"The states and UTs regularise and make permanent all contract and para-teachers in the country," it said. The petition also said the states and UTs should disclose the number of students admitted under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota in the state in accordance with the provisions of the Act.

A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam issued notice and sought their response after summer vacation on a plea filed by an organisation, National Coalition for Education.

The plea said lack of resources and failure to implement provisions of the RTE Act has resulted in a significant decline in education performance.

Senior advocate Colin Gonsalves sought a direction to all the states to complete the required neighbourhood mapping within six months and new schools be constructed six months after completion of the process.

The petition asked the states and UTs to recruit and train one lakh additional professionally trained teachers to end the shortage of educators within a year.

"Based on the aforementioned facts, it is clear that the Right to Education is being violated across the country. These violations have persisted for years and remain today in face of the RTE Act's requirement that they be remedied within three years of it coming into force.

"And more troubling, they persist despite widespread awareness of their existence by various responsible governments and authorities and in the face of previous orders from this court on October 3, 2012 to remedy them," it said

WBTET : Bengal SSC chief rubbishes allegation of irregularities in recruitment test

Rubbishing the allegations of "irregularities" in primary Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) examinations, the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC ) chief asserted that the panel was "transparent" and "fair" in its discharge of duties, as per news reports.

SSC deputy chairman Amitesh Biswas had on Monday accused the commission of offering jobs to candidates who had scored less in the eligibility test while denying the same to deserving candidates.

Rubbishing Biswas's claims, panel chairman Subiresh Bhattacharya said, "The commission works in a transparent way and if someone is alleging that there are irregularities, then it is their responsibility to substantiate it with proof. But, if someone is trying to malign the commission, we will take appropriate action."

Bhattacharya clarified that only deserving candidates have got jobs and there is no diversion in the functioning of the commission.

Training his guns on Biswas who was relieved of his duties following the allegations, Bhattacharya said the official never lodged a formal complaint regarding this matter.

"I would request him to send a written letter to the commission. However, if his allegations are found to be baseless, then appropriate action will be taken within the purview of law," the panel head said.

Despite being relieved of his responsibilities, Biswas on Tuesday forced his way into the office, contending his removal was illegal.

"Chairman (Bhattacharya) is not empowered to order my removal. Moreover, I am the custodian of very important documents that are here in the office. It is my responsibility to protect those," said Biswas.
